Professional Training

At Happy Jack’s Pawsitive Dog Training, we understand that every dog deserves the best care and training to lead a happy life. Our journey began with our beloved Jackson, whose transformation inspired us to create a dedicated space for dogs like him.

The Happy Jack’s Story

Sherri and I first met at a bustling law firm where Sherri was an associate, and I was in operations. Our mutual attraction quickly turned into a deep bond, and soon we found ourselves moving in together into a charming townhouse in Cherry Hill, NJ. Sherri, an ardent dog lover, had always wanted a furry companion. While I wasn’t as enthusiastic, I promised her a dog for her birthday as a gesture of my love and commitment.

The momentous day arrived, and Sherri found the perfect puppy at the Voorhees Animal Shelter. The shelter was running a 50% off sale on puppies, making it an opportune time to adopt. On October 31st, we brought home a redbone coonhound puppy named “Butch.” However, it quickly became clear that the name didn’t quite fit the puppy’s cheerful and charming personality. We renamed him Jackson, and soon, “Happy Jack” or “Handsome Jack” became his affectionate nicknames.

Jackson, the first living being we took care of together, became a central part of our lives. However, we noticed that Jackson had some anxiety issues. Determined to help him, Sherri enrolled him in agility training, which helped transform Jackson into a less anxious and more independent dog.

The impact this training had on Jackson’s well-being was profound, and the influence extended to every dog we adopted in the following years. Over the next 15 years, we continued to nurture and train our beloved pets.

Before the pandemic hit, we decided to expand our furry family and adopted a second dog, Charlotte, affectionately known as “Charlie.” She quickly became Jackson’s best friend and a beloved member of our household. Charlie brought a new dynamic to our lives, and her playful energy was the perfect complement to Jackson’s more mature demeanor.

During the pandemic, we decided it was time for a change of scenery and more space. We moved to a single-family house in Voorhees. The extra space was a blessing, especially for Jackson and Charlie, who enjoyed the larger yard and more room to roam.

In March of 2022, we faced the heartbreaking loss of Jackson. It left a significant void in our lives. That same week, we received the joyous news that Sherri was pregnant with our daughter, Remi. It was a bittersweet time, marked by the sorrow of losing Jackson and the excitement of welcoming a new life.

After Remi was born, we felt our family wasn’t quite complete. We added another dog, Utley, to our household. Utley brought even more joy and energy into our home, bonding instantly with Charlie and becoming a beloved playmate for Remi.

Inspired by our journey with Jackson and our passion for helping dogs overcome anxiety and behavioral issues, we decided to start a business. We named it “Happy Jack’s Pawsitive Dog Training” in honor of our first dog, Jackson. Our mission is to provide quality training and care for dogs, ensuring they lead happy, fulfilling lives just like Jackson did.
