We’re excited to share that Faith, one of our incredible trainers, is now an official AKC Evaluator for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program! This means we can now offer both preparation and testing for CGC certification right here at Happy Jack’s.
What is the CGC Program?
The AKC Canine Good Citizen Program is a nationally recognized certification that rewards dogs for exhibiting good manners at home and in the community. Whether you’re working toward therapy dog goals, service dog training, or simply want your pup to be the best-behaved dog on the block, the CGC sets the standard.
Passing the CGC test shows that your dog has the skills and confidence to be a well-mannered companion in real-world situations.
What the CGC Test Covers:
Your pup will be evaluated on 10 essential skills, including:
• Politely greeting strangers
• Sitting calmly for petting
• Walking nicely on a leash
• Coming when called
• Staying composed around distractions
• And more!
These are everyday behaviors that help your dog navigate the world with confidence and courtesy.
